A.M. (Armida Mabitad) Azada is an actor, voice, writer and postgraduate student living in Hong Kong. Born and raised in Quezon City, Mida majored in Anglo-American Literature at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She was a resident actor at Monique Wilson’s New Voice Company and later, the UP Shakespeare Company, while teaching exposition and literature subjects at UP Diliman’s Department of English and Comparative Literature (est. 1910). She cites Monique Wilson, Ana Valdes-Lim, Jonas Sebastian and Yvonne Webber as her acting mentors.
In Hong Kong up till December of 2007, Mida maintained a column called “KaARTehan” with the Service to the Filipino SUN, Hong Kong’s oldest bilingual newspaper for the Filipinos in Hong Kong. Mida works as a voice actor at international broadcast media companies and advertising studios; her voice is featured in television interstitials, radio commercials, documentaries and websites. Mida holds an MBA degree in Educational Management from the University of Leicester. At LAMDA (est. 1861), Mida studied ‘Acting Shakespeare’ with actor, director and painter John Link.
Mida’s work has been featured in the Sunday Inquirer Magazine, the Manila Standard, the Philippine Star, the Philippine Daily Inquirer, HK Magazine, BC Magazine, the SCMP, Service to the Filipino SUN, Morning Brew at RTHK and Muse Magazine. She was a member of ACT-Hong Kong’s Board of Governors from 2003-07.
